[SOLUTION] Google Drive still full even after deleting 70% of the files

Problem:

My google drive is not functioning well, I have deleted 70% of my files but it's still full

My gmail says my storage space is full and I might not access my email. I can't save on my google drive despite deleting 70% of my files

Resolution:

Your Google Account storage is shared across your Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos. When you delete files from Google Drive, they are just moved to your "Trash" folder so you can still recover them later. The Trash is similar to the Recycle Bin feature in Windows computers. Hence, they are not actually deleted. You need to permanently delete them from the Trash.

Here are some of my suggestions to help you free up space.

1. Delete items in your Google Drive Trash folder. You can find it on Google Drive's left sidebar. It's the last item on the menu. Press CTRL+A or select all the items you want to permanently delete then click "Delete forever"

2. You can also delete the items in the Trash folder of GMail. Similar to how Trash in Drive works.
Also, it may be worth clearing your Gmail inbox, like deleting unwanted emails.

3. If the problem still persists, please visit https://photos.google.com/ and see if it's the one taking up your storage. Do the same thing, make sure to clear the trash when you delete some files.
