My Mominees: Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs 2013 Writing Project #emergingblogs2013

The Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs 2013 Writing Project is a brainchild of Janette Toral, a multi-hyphenated blogger, entrepreneur, and educator who is considered to be the Mother of E-Commerce Law in the Philippines.

The writing project aims to seek and identify new and emerging blogs who are making waves and creating an impact to their readership in the year 2013.

This year is the 7th anniversary of the project and all blogs that have been established since July last year are eligible.

"These blogs are gradually gaining a considerable amount of readership, following, influence and fascinating the reader in various ways. The bloggers behind them established the blog for various reasons such as expression of thoughts, sharing of knowledge and insight, building a movement, events reporting or coverage, and some for profit." - http://www.influentialblogger.net/

For complete details on who can qualify, visit the official statement at http://www.influentialblogger.net/2013/06/join-top-10-emerging-influential-blogs.html

I've been blogging (on and off) since graduating from college but it is only September last year that I have started to religiously update my blogs. (I've had plenty of other blogs before sticking with this one.) Actually, I am celebrating Geek Gone Girly's first birthday a few days from now.

There are lots of challenges when you are a new blogger. For me, I was having a hard time deciding on what direction to take and keeping yourself motivated to keep on blogging.

This writing project is not an award but it helps in recognizing budding bloggers making a difference in the blogosphere. It helps when people appreciate what you do. Blogging here in the Philippines is still not that popular compared to other countries so I am supporting this project to encourage more people to join the blogging bandwagon.

Here are my nominees:

1. BJ Almeda of Three Blank Pages (http://threeblankpages.blogspot.com/)

This Blogspot blog underwent a lot of changes before settling as Three Blank Pages. Started last April 2013, this blog is managed by a young lad who is passionate about books. I love this blog because it encourages reading and I get information on the latest books.

I nominate this blog because it shows that even if you are young, you can be really good at what you do.

2. A Letter Writer (http://aletterwriter.com/)

This is one of those blogs that can give you so much feels.

I love the concept of writing letters instead of articles. A letter is a very intimate from of communication and to get a peek of what others write is just an exciting experience. You learn a lot from other people's wisdom.

I am so glad I stumbled upon this blog.

I nominate this blog because of its unique style. It shows that there is no creative boundaries in blogging.

3. Ely Concord III of The ELYmentaryKid (http://elymentarykid.com/)

Ely calls himself a billionaire and is very random. He is not afraid to make fun of himself and his smile is contagious. His blog chronicles his musing and makes you think about life.

I nominate this blog because it shows that you only need to be yourself to start something awesome.

4. Wazzup Pilipinas (http://www.wazzuppilipinas.com/)

This is where the cool kids hang-out. XD

Wazzup Pilipinas aims to promote our beloved country not only through our various tourist destinations but also by providing relevant and helpful information both locals and tourists can benefit from.

I nominate this blog because it promotes Bayanihan. The site is run by a group of dedicated bloggers offering their time and talent essentially for free.

5. Mike a.k.a The Traveling Panda (http://www.mikelaagan.com/)

When we travel, we just want to relax. I admire travel bloggers who take time to document their every adventure so we can learn from their experiences. Going to a place we are not familiar is not easy and thank God for hard working travel bloggers for giving us helpful tips and insights.

I nominate this blog because it tells people that blogging is not just a hobby but is a true calling that takes real dedication.
